Now living in Washington, I'm working on settling in and making up a different sort of life. Sweating commas.
Jinx is my dog.
Bit windy today, and the sun almost couldn’t be any brighter. Jinx enjoyed running around and exploring the river edge again.

1 day agoThis crime documentary I’m watching takes place in Illinois, and I had no idea how soothing it would be to hear those accents again.
2 days agoI’ve been called a minimalist, but the truth is I’m just easily overwhelmed.
2 days agoI'm itching to take a tent out for a couple days.
4 days agoFeeling a bit sad reading about the new Borealis train now that I’m no longer in Minnesota. A Milwaukee stop between St. Paul and Chicago is fantastic. I’ll console myself by getting reacquainted with the train routes through Seattle, which are pretty great from what I remember.
5 days agoWe checked out the nearby dog park today, and Jinx had a blast. She even taught some manners to a three-month-old husky/malamute puppy with the biggest paws you’ve ever seen.
6 days agoFeeling it tonight that I’m never going to be able to read every book I want to read.
1 week agoBoddingtons and fish & chips at home tonight
1 week agoWhen I hear my upstairs neighbor's robovacuum running, I like to imagine I'm hiding out in a bowling ball return.
1 week agoMight go sit next to a river this morning.
1 week agoI’m introducing my brother to Ted Lasso. Seems to be going okay, though I have to tamp down some understandable cynicism pretty often.
1 week agoI sat down for a minute from my bike ride and looked up to see a bald eagle flap slowly over the Elwha River’s turquoise stream.
1 week agoFallout is the bedtime story the parents in Silo tell their children to keep them from wanting to leave.
1 week agoWhatever the stats show about number of rain days in the PNW, I still haven’t really had a good soaking like springtime brings to the Midwest.
1 week agoReading news, drinking coffee on the couch, playing cushion for Jinx and her morning nap.
2 weeks agoToo many screens today. My eyes would like some paper to look at for awhile.
2 weeks agoDesiring coffee
2 weeks agoI’m looking forward to another bike ride today. My joints, not as much.
2 weeks agoPizza’s on the way.
2 weeks agoMaybe today's a good day to close all these unrelenting browser tabs.
2 weeks agoRelax
2 weeks agoWill I enjoy the show Silicon Valley? My brother thinks so.
2 weeks agoGot back on my bike today!
2 weeks agoI think Jinx is just about ready for a ride in the bike trailer. Probably need to get her some truly amazing treats as a reward.
2 weeks agoI might need to go for a bike ride today. Seems really windy out there, though.
3 weeks agoRefilling the hummingbird feeder.
3 weeks agoBack from a day on the road, in the sun, around the peninsula, by the edge of this part of the world. Tired and refreshed.
3 weeks agoThe mountains and sky are gorgeous today. About to go find a lake.
3 weeks agoWhat’s today going to look like?
3 weeks agoGetting some thoughts down before they’re gone.
3 weeks agodeep breaths
3 weeks agoLet sleep come soon and bring along some nice dreams.
3 weeks agoIf we’re going to survive this transition to all electric kitchen appliances, then we need more machines that don’t BEEEP with every single button press.
3 weeks agoThe sun’s been out long enough to dry the yard. Time to mow.
3 weeks agoThe tv writer at Rolling Stone was dead wrong about Palm Royale. It's a treat. Too many other shows today stretch the story, and my patience, across too many boring, unsatisfying episodes. Palm Royale gives you so much to enjoy along the way. It's fun, funny, colorful, and intriguing, and the cast is spectacular.
3 weeks agoSince I live just about as far away as possible from the eclipse travel path in the US, I didn’t even try watching. I remember seeing it as a kid. But I’m glad for all of you posting your own thoughts and shots!
4 weeks agoI put The Office on in the background for a bit earlier and got just completely sucked in.
